Little Evil

Guys (or guy, I think maybe one person other than me is reading this blog at this point, but I will persist!), you have got to check out the horror comedy Little Evil . Directed by Eli Craig ( Tucker and Dale vs. Evil ), it's available on Netflix. Let me tell you, I'm not big on heart warming movies - schmaltzy heart-warming, family stuff tends to make me gag - but this movie manages to be an hilarious little horror movie with some very real feels, and I still loved it. So it is definitely worth checking out. It has an all star cast featuring Adam Scott, Evangeline Lilly, Donald Faison, Clancy Brown, and Sally Field (that appearance was a total surprise, although it turns out Craig is her son).The plot revolves around Adam Scott's character, Gary, who has just married Samantha (Lilly) and become stepdad to her obviously evil, but also eventually endearing son, Lucas, a dead ringer for Damien Thorn. Gary tries to bond with his new stepson in vain, before coming to realize ...

Happy New Year! Bloody New Year & New Year's Evil

Happy New Year! How did you celebrate? I rang in the year with some champagne and a couple of seasonal horror movies, Bloody New Year and the absolutely awfully titled New Year's Evil. Bloody New Year I don't recall this chick actually being in the movie. Actually, despite the title, Bloody New Year doesn't really take place on New Year's. It actually takes place in the summer when some "young" people wash up on an island shore after their boat sinks. They find a hotel on the island that is decorated for Christmas/New Year's and promptly make themselves at home. (I mean, I know every time I wander into a strange building, the first thing I do is take a bath and dress myself in someone else's clothing, but some people might find that kind of behavior a little weird). Strange things begin happening, like ghostly foot prints, laughter, a banister attacking a character, and a seaweed monster appearing out of nowhere. Apparently this is all due to...
