Witchtrap

I'm a big fan of Kevin Tenney's Night of the Demons and Witchboard, so checking out Witchtrap (1989) when I stumbled across it on Amazon Prime was a no-brainer. Tenney's films are generally a tremendous amount of fun, and Witchtrap is no different.

Witchtrap tells the story of a group of parapsychologists investigating a haunted hotel. It's pretty cheesy, but that's part of the film's charm. It also features some impressive (and gooey) special effects, my personal favorite being a shower head that punctures a victim's neck.

Linnea Quigley is a delight in a small role, and although not all of the acting is stellar, James W. Quinn (Witchboard) charms in the lead role. He occasionally reminded me of Bill Murray in Ghostbusters, with his deadpan line delivery and cocky swagger. I definitely recommend this one for 80's horror fans, especially those who've already enjoyed Tenney's other work.
